Dear Mothers of Sons

I know that child rearing is hard. Or at least it looks to me like it is hard. But I have one or two opinions on how you should raise your son.

One in particular for today.

Teach the boy to cook.

He doesn't need to be a 5-Star chef (that might be a little intimidating in fact) but he needs to be able to throw something together better than burnt bread with spaghetti sauce and a microscopic amount of cheese on top and call it pizza.

If you did teach him to make that and call it pizza, what planet are you from? Have you ever been to Italy? Or New York? Or Pizza Hut?

I don't think burnt bread with sauce and a little cheese can be classified as "pizza."

I'm not sure if it is even a meal.

And it sure ain't date worthy. (woops don't tell my momma I said ain't)

So to my friends who are mothers to sons: tonight as you sit around the dinner table think about what dish you will teach your son to cook when he is older.

Spaghetti. Steak. Something from a take out box you put in your own dish.

Just not something that will leave his date coughing up dry scratchy bread. Its just not lady like. thanks and gig'em!

An Affair to Remember

I recently read an article in Runners World about the affair you have with running. They said the time you spend with husband, kids etc decreases as your race nears, and its like an affair...except its with your hot and sweaty self and a road.

Fortunately my race is....Sunday...and I can't wait to meet this hunk I've been dreaming of
